Dive #10

+ No comment yet

This time we were heading to a very clear-watered lake called Ruutanajärvi.

Dive time: 47+11 minutes
Start pressure: 220 bars
End pressure: 110 bars
Deco time: -
Maximum depth: 6,7 meters
Plan: Explore the very clear-watered lake and see what's underneath the surface. Buoy practice.

Just about every time I had heard about the lake Ruutanajärvi people are saying "You really have to go there!"... Therefore it was time do make my first half-day -trip. Me and a couple diving buddies headed to lake Ruutanajärvi right in the morning on sunday. It was only about 60km drive, but it took about an hour to get there because of the slower gravel roads in the end.
But hey... These slower roads make the place even better, because not everyone knows about it (especially the teenagers and the litterers)!
As it turns out there was absolutely no gargabe anywhere, only a pair of forgotten old socks. Good work!

The dives

We made two dives, longer for exploring the lake by the shoreline where we saw lots of huge boulders and fallen trees. A couple very large perches too and a lot of frog-younlings.

There's also some video footage, but it's unsharp because I didn't have dive housing for the GoPro Hero HD2 and therefore not suitable for publishing. Yes, the housing has already been ordered and a new trip will be made after I get the housing. Probably with two or more cylinders per diver.
The GoPro mount worked flawlessly.

This time I had a 10 liter cylinder and 6 kg of weight. This seemed to be a very nice combination. I need to ditch 2 kg when diving with my own 12 liter / 232 bar bottle. This makes me wonder if I'm under-weighted with only 4 kg of weight?

Buoy deployment practice

As we still had plenty of air left after the first dive we made a shorter dive for practicing buoy deployment.
Buoy deployment wasn't as hard as I thought it was. The Aqualung buoy came with a line, but there's a serious risk of tangling to the line when unwrapping it without a spool so I need to get one (always something needed!). It was also a surprise how quickly the buoy goes to the surface!
